Miami fans, media and national reporters react to FSU Boston College loss

The weekend could not have been any more perfect for the Miami football program. After Miami blew out Florida, Hurricanes fans, media and national reporters reacted to the Florida State loss to Boston College on Monday night.

Following the 41-17 win by Miami over Florida on Saturday, Florida State dropped to 0-2 overall and in the ACC with a 28-13 loss to Boston College in Tallahassee. Miami has become the consensus favorite to win the ACC after the first full weekend of games.

The season could not have started any better for Miami fans. The transfers Mario Cristobal and Miami brought in made a huge impact on Saturday. The Florida State transfers have not been nearly as impactful in the 0-2 Florida State start. Quarterback has been the most high profile and biggest difference.

Cam Ward completed 26 passes in 35 attempts for 385 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions with 33 rushing yards. Through two games Florida State QB D.J. Uiagalelei has completed 58.0 percent of his passes for 465 yards one TD and one interception with two rushing yards.

Florida State has been one of the best programs utilizing the transfer portal under Mike Norvell. One of the criticisms with transfers is that relying on the portal can be risky versus developing players that programs sign out of high school. Florida State has not had any continuity through its first two games.

Manny Navarro of The Athletic summed up how all Miami fans are feeling following the first weekend. From the perspective of Miami fans blowing out Florida in the season opener in Gainesville and Florida State starting 0-2 overall and in the ACC makes this a dream start to the season in Coral Gables.

Locked on Canes summarized the Florida State start concisely. An 0-2 start versus Georgia Tech and Boston College is certainly an implosion. Florida State was picked by the ACC media to win the conference. Georgia Tech was picked ninth in the ACC and Boston College was 14th.

Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U took a shot at Florida State ahead of Miami hosting Florida A&M on Saturday. Florida State began the season ranked 10th nationally. Florida A&M is 28th in the FCS rankings and third among HBCUs per NCAA.Com. Miami hosts Florida State on October 26.

Even the Sportsbooks got in on the action. The losses by Clemson, Florida (to Miami) LSU and Florida State this weekend were from three of Miami's biggest rivals and/or nemeses. Clemson and Florida State beginning the season without wins has made Miami the favorite to win the conference.
