Miami football 1 of 5 programs with at least 3 2024 5-star signees

The Miami football program was one of only five nationally with three five-star signees in the 2024 class.

Defensive linemen Armondo Blount and Justin Scott and edge rusher Marquise Lightfoot made the Miami football program one of only five in the 2024 class with three five-star signees. Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and Texas are the only other programs with at least three five-star signees in their 2024 class.

Georgia signed the top-ranked 2024 class and tied with Alabama for the most 2024 five-star signees with five. Alabama signed the second-best 2024 class nationally. Ohio State and Texas, who signed the fifth and sixth best classes nationally, tied for the third most 2024 five-star signees with four each.

Miami signed the third-best overall class and finished fifth among programs with five-star signees with Blount, Lightfoot and Scott. Clemson, Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee were the only other programs nationally to sign multiple five-star prospects in the 2024 class with two each.

Scott is the 10th-ranked 2024 signee in the 247 Sports composite rankings, Blount is 28th and Lightfoot is 31st. Blount, Lightfoot and Scott set the foundation for Miami signing the best 2024 defensive line class. Miami made signing an elite DL the priority of the 2024 class.

Blount, Lightfoot and Scott signing with Miami in the 2024 Class comes after the Hurricanes signed five-star offensive tackles Francis Mauigoa and Samson Okunlola in the 2023 class. Mauigoa and edge rusher Rueben Bain were 2023 freshman All-Americans. Bain was named the 2023 ACC Rookie Defensive Player of the Year.

Miami signed five blue-chip players on the DL in the 2024 class. Four-star DL Artavius Jones and edge rusher Elias Rudolph are the other blue-chip signees in the 2024 Miami class. Miami sets up to have a dominant defensive line for the next three seasons. Bain was one of four four-star DL Miami signed in 2023.
