Miami football: 2024 signees who will have the biggest impact as freshmen
The Miami football program has the third-best 2024 class per the 247 Sports Composite rankings. Several of the incoming freshmen will have a chance to contribute in 2024. Miami signed 27 prospects, with two five-star signees, 11 four-stars and 14 three-stars with a 90.78 average per signee.
Miami will continue adding talent through the transfer portal. The Hurricanes added 17 transfers in 2023. How many transfers Miami adds to the 2024 roster and at what positions will affect which freshmen will have a chance to make an impact in 2024. Mario Cristobal has shown a willingness to play freshmen.
Rueben Bain earned the 2023 ACC Defensive Freshman of the Year, Mark Fletcher was the second leading rusher for Miami this season and Francis Mauigoa earned Honorable Mentiona All-ACC and was named a Freshmen All-American. All three should continue to have major impacts for Miami in the next two seasons.
Next year, the defensive line, safety and wide receiver will be the three positions to watch for freshmen contributions. As it stands now, it appears that the entire Miami coaching staff will return in 2024. The continuity should help Miami. The Hurricanes will have to replace both starting defensive tackles and safeties in 2024.
With the departures of safeties Kamren Kinchens and James Williams to the NFL, Patterson has an excellent chance to start in 2024. Miami defensive coordinator Lance Guidry also coaches the safeties. Patterson is a playmaker who had six interceptions and nine pass breakups this season.
