Miami football 2024 transfer DT outgoing versus incoming production
The additions of Simeon Barrow from Michigan State, C.J. Clark from North Carolina State and Marley Cook from Middle Tennessee State are expected to upgrade the defensive tackle play for the Miami football team in 2024 over the three outgoing transfers at the position.
Miami lost multi-year starter Jared Harrison-Hunte, Thomas Gore and Jamil Burroughs at defensive tackle off the 2023 roster. Harrison-Hunte was a key contributor for Miami at DT during his Hurricanes' tenure. Gore provided DT depth. Burroughs never played for Miami after transferring from Alabama last August.
Barrow, Clark and Cook bring multiple years of starting experience to Miami in 2024. All three bring different skill sets to Miami. Barrow provides Miami with a 6'3 and 300 pound run stuffer in the middle of the defensive line that is also a capable pass rusher.
At 6'3 and 305 pounds, Clark slightly exceeds Barrow's size at DT. Clark provides Miami with an experienced DL who has played end and tackle in the North Carolina State 3-3-5 defense. Clark will play in a 4-2-5 with Miami. Clark told CaneSport he wants to play in a scheme that better allows him to use his athleticism.
Defensive tackle | Previous School(s) | Years | Career Stats |

Marley Cook | Middle Tennessee State | 2020-2023 | 60 tackles, 19.0 TFLs, 10.5 sacks |
At 6'1 and 284 pounds, Cook is more of an interior pass rush specialist. Cook totaled 15.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks in the last two seasons for Middle Tennessee State. The addition of Cook provides Miami defensive coordinator Lance Guidry with versatility on the DL.

---|---|---|
Jamil Burroughs | 2023 | Did not play |

Jared Harrison-Hunte | 2019-2023 | 78 tackles, 20.5 TFLs, 9.0 sacks,1.0 FF, 1.0 PBU |
Harrison-Hunte was the only significant loss for Miami at DT off the 2023 roster. Barrow, Clark and Cook should adequetly replace the loss of Harrison-Hunte's production. Miami returns Joshua Horton and Ahmad Moten on the DL. Five-star freshman Justin Scott should push for snaps at DT.
The DL was a priority for Mario Cristobal and his staff in the 2024 class.. The additions of Barrow, Clark and Cook provide time for the elite 2024 DL Miami signed to develop. Expect Barrow and Clark to become key players for Miami defensively during the 2024 season.
