The Miami football program gained more experience with Indiana center Zach Carpenter than with the outgoing transfers of Jonathan Denis, Logan Sagopolu and Chris Washington. Carpenter will be the starting center for Miami in 2024. Denis, Sagapolu and Washington received minimal to no snaps in 2023.

The offensive line was the first point of emphasis for Mario Cristobal when he was hired to be the Miami head coach in December 2021. Denis and Sagapolu were in the first Miami transfer class under Cristobal. Denis and Sagapolu followed Cristobal to Miami from Oregon. Washington signed with Miami in the 2020 class.

Miami continued to make the OL a priority in the 2023 transfer portal. Central Florida center Matt Lee and Alabama guard Javion Cohen were key players on the Miami OL last season. Cohen, Lee and true freshman right tackle Francisco Mauigoa were all new starters for Miami on the 2023 OL.

Miami returns Mauigoa, left tackle Jalen Rivers and right guard Anez Cooper as starters on the 2024 OL. The only open spot entering August training camp on the OL will be left guard. Miami could still add an experienced OL as starting LG in 2024.

Carpenter adds to an already experienced Miami OL. Left tackle Jalen Rivers is entering the fourth season where he will start a game. Cooper is entering his third season as a starter and Mauigoa is in his second. Miami will have an experienced OL in 2024 even with the new starting LG.
