The 2024 Miami football class moved up to third nationally after flipping five-star defensive lineman Armondo Blount from Florida State during the first day of the Early National Signing Period on Wednesday. Blount is the second big flip for Miami on Wednesday and third significant one this week.
Miami previously flipped four-star running back Jordan Lyle from Ohio State on Monday and four-star linebacker Adarius Hayes chose Miami over Florida on Wednesday. Blount is the 22nd-ranked prospect, fourth DL and fifth player in Florida out of Miami Central. Blount provides Miami with an elite DL from Miami Central in the second straight class.
Miami signed ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year Rueben Bain in the 2023 class. Blount joins fellow five-star DL Justin Scott of Chicago St. Ignatius in the 2024 Miami class. Scott is the seventh ranked 2024 prospect, top-ranked DL and number one player in Illinois. Bain, Blount and Scott gives Miami three elite DL for at least the next two years.
Miami flippped Blount from Florida State after he had been committed to the Seminoles since October. Blount was committed to Miami for about a month after committing to the Hurricanes in September. After initially being in the 2025 class, Blount reclassified when he committed to FSU in October.
In addition to Blount and Scott, Miami also signed four-star DL Artavius Jones in the 2024 Class. Mario Cristobal and defensive line coaches Joe Salave'a and Jason Taylor have been exceptional recruiting to improve the talent and depth up front defensively for Miami in the 2024 class.
Taylor was the primary recruiter and Salave'a the secondary for Miami to sign Blount. Taylor moved up to the second ranked recruiter in the ACC after the addition of Blount to the 2025 Miami class. Miami has one of best 2024 DL classes. The Hurricanes also signed three four-star edge rushers and one three-star.
