Miami football 2025 class is offensive heavy early
Four-star running back Girard Pringle Jr. is the fifth commitment in the 2025 Miami football class and the fourth on offense. Four-star prospects, wide receiver Waden Charles, quarterback Luke Nickel, linebacker Elijah Melendez and three-star offensive tackle Lamar Williams are committed to Miami for 2025.
Pringle Jr. passed Charles as the highest rated 2025 Miami commit. The 247Sports composite ranks Pringle Jr. as the 260th overall prospect, the 21st RB and 36th player in Florida in the 2025 class. Miami has a young RB room entering 2024 that could return intact for the 2025 season.
Charles is the 290th prospect, 11th WR and 42nd athlete in the 2024 class. Miami is building an elite group of WRs. The Hurricanes signed four-star WRs Ny Carr, Chance Robinson and Joshisa Trader in the 2024 class. Carr and Trader have been impressive as early enrollees during spring practice.
Robinson will arrive later this year. Expect Miami to continue to target a few more WRs in the 2024 class. Xavier Restrepo is entering his final season of eligiblity. Jacolby George and Isaiah Horton are eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft. Miami could also lose a few WRs to the transfer portal before the start of the 2024 season.
Nickel adds to a QB room for Miami that will lose Cam Ward after his one season with the Hurricanes in 2025. It wouldn't be surprising for Miami to add another transfer QB in 2025. Nickel is the 273rd prospect, 23rd WR and 36th player in Georgia in the 2025 class. Nickel could move up significantly in the 2025 recruiting rankings.
Melendez is the 132nd player, 16th LB and 18th player in Florida in the 2025 class. Melendez enters his senior season after missing all but one game as a junior because of a broken foot. In the one game played in 2023 Melendez had seven tackles and one tackle for loss.
Williams is a massive prospect at 6'6 and 270 pounds. The 247Sports composite rankings have Williams as the 493rd prospect, 37th OT and 69th player in Florida in the 2025 class. Williams primarily played right tackle for Gadsen County High School, just Northwest of Tallahassee.
Miami currently has the 20th ranked 2025 class. Only Oregon who is 13th, Georgia (15th), USC (16th) and Texas (17th) have higher ranked 2025 classes with five or fewer commits. USC is the only one of those teams with four commits. Expect the Miami class to finish close or in the top 10 for 2025.
