The commitment from four-star cornerback Chris Ewald on Thursday evening zoomed the 2025 Miami football recruiting class up to 16th in the 247Sports composite rankings. Miami entered June in the 40s in the 247Sports composite rankings. Ewald is the seventh June commitment in the 2025 Miami class.
Three-star CB Timothy Merritt was the first commitment of the month in the 2025 Miami class on June 9. Merritt was followed by offensive tackles Demetrius Campbell and Jaden Wilkerson, safety Amari Wallace, linebacker Ezekiel Marcelin interior offensive lineman Max Buchanan and Ewald. Miami now has 13 players committed in the 2025 class.
Miami previously had commitments from quarterback Luke Nickel, linebacker Elijah Melendez, tight ends Brock Schott, Luka GIlbert and IOL Takaylen Muex. Ewald is the highest-ranked player in the 2024 Miami class. The 247Sports composite rankings have Ewald as the 169th prospect, 21st CB and 24th player in the 2025 class.
The latest uptick has propelled Miami to second place in the ACC, just behind Clemson. Clemson holds the sixth spot nationally. Despite being tied for eighth in the ACC with California, Clemson and Miami have the top 2025 ACC recruiting classes, each with 13 commitments.
Miami has the third highest average per 2025 ACC commit in the 2025 class. Florida State leads the ACC with a 94.10 average per commit, Clemson is second at 93.01 and Miami is third at 90.00. The Seminoles have the lowest-ranked class overall in the ACC with only six players committed.
Syracuse leads the ACC with 26 players committed to the 2025 class. The Orange class is an impressive fourth in the ACC. Georgia Tech is a surprising third in the ACC. With 5.5 months left until the Early National Signing Period, expect those rankings to shuffle frequently.
It would still be surprising if the top three 2025 classes in the ACC aren't Clemson, Miami and Florida State in some order. Miami should continue rising up the national rankings as the Hurricanes aim for its third consecutive top 10 class. Mario Cristobal has elevated Miami from a good program recruiting to a great one.
