Miami football and Jacurri Brown history with Alabama WR transfer Isaiah Bond
Alabama wide receiver Isaiah Bond, who was once crystalballed to Miami as a recruit, has entered the transfer portal. Bond led Alabama with 48 receptions totaling 668 yards and four touchdowns in 2024. Bond entering the transfer portal occurred two days after Nick Saban announced his retirement.
Alabama quickly responded to Saban's retirement with the news on Friday that Kalen DeBoer of Washington will be the Crimson Tide's new head coach. One of the biggest jobs for DeBoer initially as Alabama's head coach will be recruiting the players on the current roster. Bond is one of the most important players on the Alabama roster.
Bond and Miami quarterback Jacurri Brown took multiple visits to Miami as recruits together, including their official visits in June 2021. Bond was previously committed to Florida before flipping to Alabama and eventually signing with the Crimson Tide. Miami was in the top five for Bond when he was a high school recruit.
Texas is the early favorite to add Bond as a transfer per On3. In addition to Alabama, Florida and Miami, Bond considered Georgia, LSU and Texas, among others, as a recruit. Bond took official visits to Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Miami and LSU as a recruit. Bond will reportedly visit Texas this weekend.
Miami returns record-setting slot receiver Xavier Restrepo and second leading receiver Jacolby George in 2024. The Hurricanes lost third leading receiver Colbie Young to Georgia as a transfer. Bond spent the majority of his snaps in the slot in 2023. Restrepo also plays the slot.
The potential of adding another experienced productive receiver for Miami will help out whoever the QB is in 2024. Bond and Brown having past history together would help Miami if he is the QB. Miami signed four-star receivers Ny Carr, Chance Robinson and Joshisa Trader in the 2024 class.
