Miami football beats out elite programs with 4-star RB Girard Pringle commitment

The Miami football program beat out several college football elites with a commitment from four-star running back Girard Pringle on Saturday.

The Miami football program beat out a plethora of high-end programs that included Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Florida and Texas A&M, per Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U, with a commitment from four-star running back Girard Pringle Jr. on Saturday. Urrutia logged a crystal ball for Pringle to Miami shortly before his commitment.

Alabama had been a prohibitive favorite with a 63.0 percent chance for a Pringle Jr. commitment per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Pringle Jr. Miami received a second unofficial visit from Pringle Jr. this month per 247Sports. That included Pringle Jr. visiting Miami this weekend.

Alabama and Florida are the only other programs that Pringle Jr. has visited. Pringle Jr. will take his official visit to Alabama the weekend of June 21 per 247Sports and On3. New Miami RB coach Matt Merritt led the recruitment for Pringle Jr. Merritt recruited Pringle Jr. for South Florida where he was the RB coach before Miami.

Pringle Jr. received over 20 Power Conference scholarship offers. Miami is building an elite RB corps. Jordan Lyle the top RB per On3 and Chris Wheatley-Humphrey signed with Miami in the 2024 class. Miami returns Mark Fletcher and Chris Johnson from its 2023 class. Fletcher is the leading returning rusher for Miami.

Pringle Jr. ran for 1,683 yards and 24 touchdowns with nine 100-yard games in 2023 as a junior for Seffner Armwood. Miami gains another speedy RB with the commitment from Pringle Jr. to pair with Johnson and Wheatley-Humphrey. Pringle Jr. ran the 100 and 200 meters as a sophomore.

Per consensus scouting reports, Pringle is one of the fastest risers in the 2025 class. Miami now has five commitments in the 2025 class. Four-star prospects, iinebacker Elijah Melendez and wide receiver Waden Charles and three-star commits, quarterback Luke Nickel and offensive lineman Lamar Williams.
