Miami football commit Waden Charles praised for Under Armour Performance
Four-star Miami football commit Waden Charles continues to impress in the 2025 class after a productive performance at the Miami Under Armour Camp last weekend. Charles exhibited good speed and caught some long touchdowns per 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins.
Charles Power of On3 also praised Charles for his physical traits and twitchy athleticism. Charles is the 292nd-ranked prospect, 10th athlete and 43rd player in Florida in the 2025 class per the 247Sports composite rankings. Charles was praised for his performance at the Under Armour Camp but missed being named in the top 10.
At 6'2 and 185 pounds, Ivins calls Charles a physical possession receiver able to beat opponents with body control and sure hands. Ivins expects Charles to make an impact receiver on third down and in the red zone. Charles could also contribute to special teams with experience as a high school safety per Ivins.
Charles has 117 receptions for 2,144 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns in three high school seasons. After 48 tackles and three interceptions as a sophomore in 2022, Charles has primarily focused on offense during his 2023 junior season.
"Miami commit Waden Charles of Palm Beach Central...displayed some straight-line juice and hauled in a few long touchdowns"
- Andrew Ivins, 247Sports
Charles told Six-Star football in 2023 he ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash as a freshman. With Charles the only player committed at the position, the Miami 2025 tight end/WR class was ranked fifth by Rivals. Miami signed an elite group of WRs and TEs in 2024 with four blue-chip prospects.
"Miami commit Waden Charles caught our eye with his physical traits and twitchy athleticism."
- Charles Power, On3
Isaiah Horton is the only WR on the 2024 Miami roster taller than Charles at 6'4. Miami needs more physical WRs who can win contested catches. The Miami WR room will lose Xavier Restrepo after the 2024 season and Jacolby George is eligible for the 2025 draft. Charles will have a chance to play as a true freshman in 2024.
