Miami football continues landing elite TEs with 4-star Luka Gilbert commitment
The Miami football program continued its prowess in recruiting tight ends under Mario Cristobal with a commitment from four-star 2025 prospect Luka Gilbert on Monday. Miami has added a blue-chip TE in all four classes under Cristobal. Miami signed Jaleel Skinner in 2022, Riley Williams in 2023 and Elija Lofton in 2024.
Gilbert is the 254th prospect, 12th TE and 10th player in Ohio in the 2025 class. Miami has six commitments with the pledge from GIlbert on Wednesday. All the 2025 Miami commits but four-star linebacker Elijah Hernandez are on offense. Gilbert is the second highest ranked commit in the 2025 Miami class.
Four-star running back Girard Pringle is the 220th-ranked 2025 prospect. Miami beat out Kentucky and Ohio State for Gilbert. Ohio State was projected with a 41.8 percent chance for a Gilbert commitment by On3, Kentucky was at 15.9 percent and Miami at 12.8 percent.
Miami TEs coach Cody Woodiel led the recruitment for Gilbert. Gilbert is the second commitment in the 2025 Miami class attributable to Woodiel. Woodiel was also credited for Miami gaining a commitment from offensive tackle Lamar Williams. Previously, Woodiel was the lead recruiter for Lofton.

Gilbert has taken five visits to Ohio State and three to Miami. Gilbert's most recent visit to Miami was the weekend of March 23. Gilbert has an official visit to Miami scheduled for the weekend of May 31. Miami moved from the 23rd-ranked class nationally to 17th after the commitment from Gilbert.

In addition to Gilbert, Melendez, Pringle and Williams in the 2025 class, Miami also has commitments from four-star wide receiver Waden Charles and three-star quarterback Luke Nickel. This is also the second consecutive class Miami has a commitment from a player from Cincinnati. Miami signed four-star edge rusher Elias Rudolph in the 2024 class.
