Miami football gets 1st 2025 WR with 4-star Daylyn Upshaw commit

The Miami football program received its first commit from a wide receiver in the 2025 class from four-star prospect Daylyn Upshaw on Saturday.

Four-star prospect Daylyn Upshaw became the first wide receiver to commit to the Miami football program in the 2025 class on Saturday. Upshaw is the 387th prospect, 59th WR and 18th player in Alabama out of Phenix City, Central in the 247Sports composite rankings.

Upshaw chose Miami after taking official visits with the Hurricanes, Central Florida and Florida in June per his 247Sports profile. In his last two seasons, Upshaw has 89 receptions for 1,627 yards and 18th touchdowns. Upshaw was explosive with 59 receptions for 1,185 yards and 15 TDs per Max Preps.

Upshaw had the big 2023 season playing opposite 2024 five-star Auburn signee Cam Coleman. Upshaw is the 18th commitment in the 2025 Miami class, the 10th on offense and the 14th blue-chip prospect. Miami WR coach Kevin Beard was the primary recruiter for Upshaw.

Miami has commitments for every position on offense with the addition of Upshaw to its 2024 class. The Hurricanes have commitments from every defensive position except from an interior lineman. More commitments should be coming for Miami in the next 10 days to two weeks.

Five-star cornerback D.J. Pickett will announce his commitment on July 17, three-stat defensive lineman Jarquez Carter on July 18, four-star CB Jaboree Antoine and three-star DL Floyd Boucard on July 20 and four-star WR Vernell Brown III on July 21 among prospects who are strongly considering Miami.

Upshaw is the second commit in the 2025 Miami class from Alabama. Three-star CB Timothy Merritt from Birmingham Parker committed to Miami on June 9. Miami currently has four players from Alabama on its roster. That includes 2024 signees, linebacker Cameron Pruitt and edge rusher Cole McConathy II.

The 2025 Miami class remains ninth with the commitment from Upshaw. Miami is challenging to have a top 10 class for the third consecutive year. Depending on how the commits go in the next eight days, Miami could challenge for a second consecutive top-five class in 2025.
