Miami football gets most ACC first place votes in CBS Sports 2024 expert picks
The Miami football team received four of the eight first-place votes from a CBS Sports panel of writers in their "ACC expert picks 2024: Most overrated and underrated teams, projected order of finish, bold predictions."
Shehan Jeyarajah, Richard Johnson, David Cobb and Jerry Palm pick Miami to win the ACC. Tom Fornelli, Chip Patterson and Will Backus picked Clemson and Dennis Dodd picked Florida State to win the ACC. The picks from the CBS Sports panel vary slightly from the ACC Media.
Seven different teams were picked to win the ACC in the media poll. Florida State, Clemson and Miami were the top three as with the CBS Sports picks. FSU, Clemson and Miami are the consensus top three ahead of everyone else in the conference. North Carolina State, Louisville and Virginia Tech are the teams to watch.
CBS Sports had several categories they discussed in a round-table. Five overrated teams, five underrated teams, bold predictions and the ACC Champion were all discussed. Not surprisingly, Miami was mentioned in all four topics. The consensus for Miami is that they are trending up this year.
Some of the bold predictions for Miami are that they, NC State, SMU, or Louisville will break through and finally become the third program in the ACC to make the College Football Playoff. Cobb stated the U is back. Miami will have to prove that on the field. That has too often been an observation in the preseason in the last 20 years.
The most bold prediction came from CBS Sports analyst Emory Hunt who stated Miami can go undefeated. If Miami wins week one at Florida, October 19 at Louisville and versus Florida State on October 26 they will significantly increase their chances of going undefeated. Miami will be expected to win the other nine games.
