Miami football has one 2024 weekday game announced
The Miami football team will host Virginia Tech on Friday night, September 27. That is the sole weekday for Miami this season, announced by the ACC on Tuesday. The rest of the schedule will be released on Wednesday at 5 PM Eastern Time on the ACC Network.
After a one-year hiatus, Miami and Virginia Tech will resume their rivalry. Miami and Virginia Tech played 31 straight seasons through 2022 before not playing last year. Before the lapse in the rivalry last season, 1991 was the last time Miami did not play Virginia Tech. Miami leads the all-time series versus Virginia Tech 25-15.
Miami leads the all-time series 10-9 since both programs joined the ACC in 2004. The Hurricanes will bring a three-game winning streak versus Virginia Tech and victories in five of the last six agains the Hokies into the 2023 game. Miami and Virginia Tech both finished their 2023 seasons 7-6
Brent Pry of Virginia Tech and Mario Cristobal are each entering their third seasons in 2024. Pry is 10-14 and Cristobal is 12-13. Virginia Tech finished 5-3 in the ACC in 2023 and defeated Tulane 41-20 in the Military Bowl. Miami lost 31-24 in the Pinstripe Bowl to Rutgers.
The Miami and Virginia Tech rivalry intensified in the 1990s as members of the Big East. Miami won nine of the first 13 Big East Football titles. Virginia Tech won three Big East titles.
