Miami football in good position in 4-star LB Gavin Nix's top 6

The Miami football program is competitive among the top six for four-star linebacker Gavin Nix. Nix named Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, and Stanford his top six on Sunday. The projections about who the favorite is for a commitment from Nix have changed since he named his top six on Sunday.

Florida who didn't make Nix's top six is listed as the favorite for a commitment from the four-star LB at 28.5 percent. Florida State is second at 22.2 percent, Miami third at 16.7 percent and Oregon is fourth at 6.1 percent in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Stanford replaced Florida and Texas A&M from Nix's original group of finalists.

There are no 247Sports Crystal Balls logged for Nix. Miami will receive the first official visit from Nix the weekend of June 7. Nix will visit Oregon the weekend of June 14 and Florida State beginning June 21. All 13 programs that have received unofficial visits from Nix are Power Conference schools.

Florida leads all programs with nine unofficial visits from Nix. Miami is second with seven unofficial visits and Florida State is third with six from the IMG Academy star. Auburn, Central Florida and Notre Dame are the only other programs with multiple visits at two each.

Nix told Keegan Pope of On3 that he loves the consistency the Miami coaching staff has shown him, that he's been impressed by their vision and he wants to get more intel on the Hurricanes. Next weekend will be a big one for the Miami recruitment of Nix. Miami is hosting two LBs the weekend of June 7.

In addition to Nix, Miami is hosting four-star LB Jadon Perlotte this coming weekend. Perlotte has been committed to Georgia since December 2022 but is trending to Florida State. Four-star LB Elijah Melendez is the only defensive player currently in the 2025 Miami recruiting class.
