The Dallas Cowboys inducted Miami football National Championship Coach Jimmy Johnson into their Ring of Honor on Saturday night. Johnson left Miami after going 52-9 from 1984 through 1988 for the Cowboys. In five seasons with Dallas, Johnson led the Cowboys to a 44-36 record and two Super Bowl titles.

Johnson joined his former players, University of Miami Sports Hall of Famer Michael Irvin and other Dallas Cowboys greats Troy Aikman, Larry Allen and Charles Haley, Emmitt Smith and Darren Woodson in the Ring of Honor at AT&T Stadium. Johnson is the 24th person inducted into the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor.

Tom Landry, the only coach in Cowboys' history before Johnson and team executives Gil Brandt and Tex Schramm are among the inductees in the Ring of Honor. Johnson was inducted into the Miami Hurricanes Ring of Honor earlier this year with fellow National Championship Head Coach Dennis Erickson.

Johnson gave a speech that lasted a few minutes. He reminisced how the Cowboys went from 1-15 in his first season in 1989 to SuperBowl Champions three seasons later. There was only one way for Johnson to conclude his speech. That was by asking the AT&T Stadium fans, "How 'bout them Cowboys."

The induction of Johnson into the Cowboys' Ring of Honor occurred after he and Dallas owner Jerry Jones agreed to meet, which was facilitated, in part, by Troy Aikman. Johnson and Jones met at the Cowboys' team headquarters, The Star, in Frisco, Texas. Aikman and Jones' daughter Charlotte got Johnson and Jones to agree to meeting, per CBS Sports.
