Five-star 2025 defensive lineman Elijah Griffin named the Miami football program as one of his three finalists, along with Georgia and USC on Sunday. After initially considering a December commitment announcement, Griffin told On3, "Still not 100 percent...Thinking about an October commitment.”

Miami and USC hosted Griffin for official visits in June. According to On3, Griffin plans to take an official visit to Georgia "sometime around or after the upcoming season." Griffin has taken eight unofficial visits to Georgia. Griffin is a top -five player in the 247Sports and On3 rankings.

Griffin is the fifth-ranked prospect, top DL and best player in Georgia in the 2025 class per the On3 Industry Rankings. The 247Sports Composite Rankings list Griffin fourth overall, and top DL and player in Georgia in the 2025 class. Griffin will be a foundational player in the 2025 class for wherever he signs.

All three 247Sports crystal balls that were logged this winter project Griffin to commit to Georgia. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine projects Georgia with a 95.2 percent chance for a Griffin commitment. Miami and USC are given less than a one percent chance for a Griffin commitment in the On3 RPM.

Georgia has hosted Griffin for the most overall visits. Per On3, South Carolina who is not one of the three finalists is second with six visits. Miami and USC are third with two visits each. Miami and USC are the only programs Griffin has taken unofficial visits to.

In a post last month, Rivals national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman said Miami is the biggest threat to Georgia for a commit from Griffin. Miami has proven under Mario Cristobal that a recruitment is not over until the player signs a National Letter of Intent. Miami flipped five-star defensive tackle Justin Scott from Ohio State in the 2024 class.
