Miami football making WR priority in 2025 recruiting class
Wide receivers Vernell Brown III, Jaime Ffrench and Dallas Wilson are the three highest-ranked June official visitors to the Miami football program on offense. Ffrench is a five-star prospect and Brown and Wilson are four-stars. Brown and French are uncommitted, while Wilson is currently committed to Oregon.
Brown and Ffrench took their official visits with Miami on Tuesday. Brown will visit Miami this weekend. Ohio State currently holds 247Sports crystal balls for Brown and Ffrench. The recruitment of Ffrench has frequently flucuated. Ffrench named a top three of LSU, Texas and Miami in order recently.
Tennessee is also in the mix for Ffrench with an official visit upcoming this weekend. Ffrench announced earlier this month he intends on making his commitment announcment on August 30. That is one day before Miami opens the 2024 season at Florida.
Brown took his official visit to Ohio State the weekend of May 31, will visit Florida this weekend and Florida State the weekend of June 21. Miami faces tough competition in the recruitment for Brown who is a Florida legacy. Brown's father was a defensive back at Florida from 2001 through 2005.
Miami has been working hard to flip Wilson who has been committed to Oregon since January 2023. Wilson rescheduled his Miami visit from last weekend after playing OT7 nationals with RAW Miami. Wilson will take his official visit with Florida this weekend. Florida State will host Wilson the weekend of November 29.
Wilson would provide Miami with exceptional size at 6'3. Ffrench is the highest rated of the three as the 18th ranked prospect, fourth WR and third player in Florida in the 2024 class. Brown is an explosive player who projects as a slot receiver in college who can add value as a kick returner.
Miami is without a WR in its 2025 class. The Hurricanes signed four-star WRs Ny Carr, Chance Robinson and Joshisa Trader in the 2024 class. If Miami can sign Brown, Ffrench and/or Wilson to join the 2024 signees, the Hurricanes would project to have a lethal group of WRs for at least the next two seasons.
