The Miami football program acquired offensive playmakers and added depth at key positions on defense during the spring transfer portal cycle. The players Miami has added in the last 10 days led to them being named as one of the winners during the spring transfer portal cycle by Chris Hummer of 247Sports.

Oregon State running back Damien Martinez was the first of five players to commit to Miami this spring. Martinez was followed by Louisville linebacker Jaylin Alderman, Marshall cornerback Dyoni Hill, Houston wide receiver Sam Brown and Michigan State defensive tackle Simeon Barrow.

Alderman, Brown and Martinez are projected starters. Barrow and Hill will compete for snaps in 2024. Miami has explosive players at every skill position on offense except tight end. Brown, Martinez and Cam Ward provide Miami with possibly the best transfer trio at RB, QB and WR entering the 2024 season.

Miami is projected to start four transfers on offense that also includes center Zach Carpenter from Indiana. Six offensive starters return for Miami. Four defensive starters from the final regular season game at Boston College return for Miami in 2024. As many as five transfers could start for Miami on defense in 2024.

"WINNER: MIAMI HURRICANES
Miami added the cycle's No. 1 available running back (Damien Martinez) and wide receiver (Sam Brown). That duo adds to what projects as an absolutely loaded offense that will feature the nation's eight-leading passer from a year ago (Ward), a 1,000-yard runner (Martinez) a trio of 800-plus yard receivers (Brown, Xavier Restrepo, Jacolby George) and what's considered one of the best offensive lines in the ACC. What was already a top-25 Miami offense should take a leap in 2024 due to those transfer additions.

Miami also got better on defense. The Hurricanes added one of the cycle's top available defensive tackles (Michigan State's Simeon Barrow), Louisville starting linebacker Jaylin Alderman and one of the top cornerbacks in the G-5 with Dyoni Hill from Marshall. Miami is still in pursuit of other impact players for 2024 - like four-star edge transfer Tyler Baron.

The Hurricanes have a window next year with Ward, and they're doing everything they can to take advantage."
