With three commits who as a group rank eighth nationally, Miami was named as one of 10 "College football teams that are off to hot recruiting starts in the 2026 class as the Top247 updates."Four-star linebacker Jordan Campbell leads the 2026 Miami class.

Miami also has commitments from three-star prospects, quarterback Dereon Coleman and wide receiver Malachi Toney. Hudson Standish of 247Sports described Campbell with several superlatives and said of Miami "it's a promising start for one of the better recruiting operations in the country."

Campbell is the 93rd-ranked prospect in the 2023 class, sixth LB and 14th player in Florida out of Carol City. Campbell played LB and WR in 2023. Greg Biggins of 247Sports said of Campbell "Love the versatility on defense and will take snaps at linebacker, nickel and as an edge rusher."

Toney is the 200th prospect, 35th WR and 36th player in Florida out of American Heritage. Toney has 84 receptions for 1,394 yards and 16 TDs through his first two high school seasons. Entering his junior season, Toney should continue to improve. Toney will be the eventual replacement for Ray Ray Joseph in the slot.

"
Opa Locka (Fla.) Miami Carol City linebacker Jordan Campbell is a potential freak, with intriguing two-way snaps to pair nicely with a projectable frame. After dominating lower-level competition as a sophomore, Campbell will get an opportunity to face much better opponents as a junior and could become a breakout star."
Hudson Standish, 247Sports

Coleman is the 314th prospect, 21st QB and 59th player in the 2026 class. Coleman completed 63.4 percent of his passes for 2,236 yards, 16 touchdowns and six interceptions as a sophomore starting for Orlando Jones in 2023. Andrew Ivins of 247Sports stated Coleman "likes to pick defenses apart from the pocket."

The other nine schools named Standish are Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, Houston, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, USC and Syracuse. Houston is the only school named by Standish who is not in the top eight. Miami currently has the eighth-ranked 2026 class. The Hurricanes are trending for a fourth straight top 10 class.
