Miami football alums guard Javion Cohen and safeties Kamren Kinchens and James Williams represented the Hurricanes in the Senior Bowl on Saturday. Cohen, Kinchens and Williams all played for the American team. Kinchens and Williams were coached by former Miami defensive coordinator Ephraim Banda.

Kinchens was in his familiar position at safety. Williams played linebacker in the Senior Bowl and has added 15 pounds since Miami ended its regular season versus Boston College on November 24. Kinchens and Williams were both playmakers on Saturday.

Williams finished fourth on the American team with five tackles and was their only player with one tackle for loss. The American finished with four TFLs. The other three TFLs were shared among six players. Kinchens finished with three tackles and a pass breakup. Williams was also penalized 15 yards for a facemask.

Williams earned his first tackle of the game after Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman had a 15-yard completion to Central Florida wide receiver Javon Baker to the American 34-yard line for a first down. The second tackle by Williams was on Rice wide receiver Luke McCaffrey on a five-yard run to the American 14 on second and 10.

Williams earned his third tackle in the game after a 13-yard Hartman completion to McCaffrey on second and 10 to the American 32 in the third quarter. That play is when Williams was called for the 15-yard facemask penalty. That put the ball at the American 17 yardline.

On the next play, Williams dropped Hartman for a two-yard loss to the American 17 on first and 10. The final tackle by Williams was on New Hampshire running back Dylan Laube on a five yard punt return to the National 38. Williams being a contributor on special teams should help his draft status.

Kinchens made his Senior Bowl debut on the stat sheet with a tackle on McCaffrey following a 20-yard punt return to the National 45 in the first quarter. Kinchens' second tackle came following a four-yard completion to South Dakota State RB Isaiah Davis from Hartman to the National 15 yardline.

Following a 20-yard run by Davis to the National 36, Davis earned his third and final tackle. Kinchens recorded his final stat with a pass breakup of Penn State tight end Theo Johnson. Hartman attempted a pass deep on the right side that culminated with the Kinchens breakup.

Cohen had a good week of practice. In one instance, Cohen was recorded throwing Florida State defensive lineman Braden Fiske to the ground on a pass rush drill. Cohen is projected as the 136th overall pick in the 2024 fifth round by the NFL Mock Draft Database. Kinchens is the 40th consensus player and Williams is 45th.
