Miami football returns most of its TE 2023 production without transfer additions
Jaleel Skinner who had one reception for nine yards in 2023 is the only tight end the Miami football program lost off its 2023 roster. Miami did not add any transfer TEs for 2024. Elijah Arroyo, Cameron McCormick and Riley Williams return for Miami as the only other TEs on the 2024 roster who had receptions in 2023.
Redshirt freshman Jackson Carver and 2024 four-star signee Elijah Lofton are the other scholarship TEs for Miami this season. McCormick and Williams were the Miami co-leaders at TE in 2023 with eight receptions. Williams led Miami TEs with 82 receiving yards and the sole touchdown in 2023.
After missing most of the last two seasons, Arroyo is the projected starting TE for Miami in 2024. Arroyo had one reception for 11 yards in 2023. In three seasons with Miami, Arroyo has 11 receptions for 163 yards and one TD. Arroyo has the opportunity for a breakout 2024 season in what is projected to be a dynamic Miami offense.
Lofton can potentially be an impact player for Miami as a true freshman. During spring practice, Lofton was praised for his versatility. Lofton can play H-back and running back in addition to TE. Miami needs more production at TE in 2024. Miami TEs had 18 receptions for 154 yards and one TD in 2023.
Lofton, McCormick and Williams spoke to the media during spring practice about their determination to prove a point about the Miami TE group this fall. Miami has a good mix of experience and varied skill sets that should allow them to return to being TE U in 2024.
Running back Damien Martinez and an elite group of Miami WRs will take the focus away from the TEs in 2024, providing them an opportunity to make plays. Arroyo and Lofton are the TEs to watch for Miami. Arroyo is the highest-rated Miami TE signee and Lofton is the most versatile.
