Miami football staff tagged by Armondo Blount's Mom in recruitment message
Valentiauntrell Kennedy Blount, the mom of five-star defensive lineman Armondo Blount tagged five Miami football coaches and staff members in a Tweet on Saturday that he will not be taking an official or unofficial visit before the Early National Signing Period that is Wednesday through Friday. Blount is projected to flip from FSU to Miami.
Kennedy Blount tagged head coach Mario Cristobal, defensive line coaches Joe Salave'a and Jason Taylor, Senior Analyst, Defense Edwin Pata and Director of High School Football Relations Roland Smith. Miami worked hard to regain a commitment from Blount after he flipped from Miami to Florida State in October.
Blount initially committed to Miami in September after an unofficial visit during the weekend the Hurricanes defeated Texas A&M. Florida State received the commitment from Blount following his official visit in October. Blount is the 23rd-ranked prospect, fourth defensive lineman and fifth player in Florida in the 2024 class,
Blount would be the second five-star prospect to sign with Miami, Miami flipped five-star DL Justin Scott from Ohio State in November. Scott is the 13th ranked prospect, third-ranked DL and top player in Illinois out of Chicago St. Ignatius in the 2024 class. Miami is projected to sign the best 2024 DL class.
Miami also has commitments from four-star edge rushers Marquise Lightfoot, Elias Rudolph and Booker Pickett Jr, four-star DL Artavius Jones, three-star DL Kendall Jackson and Daylen Russell and three-star edge rusher Cole McConathy. Miami will be deep and talented on the DL for at least the next three years.
Blount played in high school with ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year Rueben Bain who will be Miami's best returning DL in 2024. Miami will also return Nyjalik Kelly and Akheem Mesidor on the edge on 2024 after they had season-ending injuries in 2023. Miami also added North Carolina State transfer defensive tackle C.J. Clark on Friday.
Cristobal made the DL a priority in for the 2024 class and it will pay off when the Early Signing Period commences on Wednesday. Expect Miami to continue being active in the transfer portal to add more DTs beyond Clark. A flip by Blount from FSU to Miami would vault the Hurricanes to the fourth ranked 2024 class passing the Seminoles.
