The Miami football program is one of five finalists for four-star defensive tackle Jarquez Carter ahead of his July 18 commitment announcement. Information about which program Carter will commit to varies by website. Central Florida, Florida, Miami, Ohio State and Penn State are the finalists for Carter.
Florida, Miami and Ohio State appear ahead of Central Florida and Penn State for Carter per various media recruiting sites. depending on the site, Florida, Miami and Ohio State all have a lead. Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U logged the sole 247Sports crystal ball for Carter to commit to Miami.
The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine projects Florida with a 67.9 percent chance for a Carter commitment. The Rivals.Com Futurecast projects Ohio State with a 67.0 percent chance for a Carter commitment. Carter's recruitment appears to be open with eight days remaining until he announces his commitment.
Carter took official visits to all five of his finalists in June. Carter is the 396th prospect, 42nd DL and 54th player in Florida in the 247Sports composite rankings. Brian Dohn of 247Sports quoted Carter saying that no one builds relationships in recruiting better than the Miami football staff.

Florida has hosted Carter the most frequently, with 13 visits. Central Florida hosted Carter seven times, followed by five to Florida State and three to Miami. No other program has hosted Carter more than twice. Recruiting analysts frequently state to follow the visits before a prospect makes commitments.
Carter is one of several key Miami targets with commitment announcements next week. Five-star defensive back D.J. Pickett is making his announcement on July 17. Four-star cornerback Jaboree Antoine's commitment announcement is on July 20.

Miami currently has the 10th-ranked 2025 class, ahead of the flurry of commitments scheduled for next week. The Hurricanes have been one of the hottest programs recruiting, with 12 commitments since June 8.
