The Miami football program has ground to make up ahead of the September 21 commitment announcement from four-star American Heritage running back Byron Louis. Florida State is the favorite for a Louis commitment per 247Sports and On3.
On3 projects Florida State with a 91.7 percent chance for a commitment per their Recruiting Prediction Machine. Noles247 writer Zach Blostein has logged the only 247Sports crystal ball for Louis. Miami has a 3.6 percent chance for a Louis commitment and Georgia is at 1.7 percent per On3.
Wisconsin is listed with less than a three percent chance for a Louis commitment. Louis took official visits to Miami, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Florida State in June in that order. Louis' nine total visits to Miami are the most, followed by Florida State and Georgia with four visits each.
Louis ran for 1,224 yards and 18 touchdowns, averaging 7.7 yards per carry as a junior in 2023. Throughout his high school career, Louis has 1,849 rushing yards and 31 TDs. That includes 11 TDs as a sophomore in 2024. Miami sophomore RB Mark Fletcher preceded Louis at American Heritage.
"Miami’s pitch is, it’s home. They want me to stay home and put it on for my city and represent the neighborhood I grew up in."4-star 2025 running back Girard Pringle
Four-star Seffner, Armwood prospect Girard Pringle Jr. is the only RB committed to Miami in the 2025 class. Miami could potentially sign only one RB in the 2025 class. All of the RBs on the Miami roster have eligibility remaining beyond 2024. Four Miami RBs have at least three years of eligibility remaining beyond 2024.
Miami starting cornerbacks Damari Brown and Darryl Porter are also American Heritage alums. The 2025 Miami class currently ranks 10th in the 247Sports composite rankings. Louis would a huge addition to the 2025 Miami class, but the Hurricanes are still trending for another elite group of signees.
