Miami football target Cortez Mills cancels official visit with Hurricanes
Four-star 2025 Homestead wide receiver Cortez Mills who is trending to the Miami football program per On3 is not taking his official visit with the Hurricanes this weekend. Mills has more recently been trending to Clemson per 247Sports with three crystal balls projecting him to the Tigers.
National Recruiting Analyst Tom Loy gave his 247Sports crystal ball for Mills to Clemson on June 10. Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U and Austin Hannon of Clemson247 logged crystal balls for Mills to the Tigers on June 12. Loy wrote an article on June 13 calling Clemson the outright leader for Mills.
Nebraska, Clemson, Oklahoma and Florida have previously hosted Mills for official visits, per his On3 profile. Miami hosted Mills eight times between January 2023 and March 2024 for unofficial visits, per his On3 profile. Miami has been focusing heavily on WRs Vernell Brown III, Jaime Ffrench and Dallas Wilson in recent weeks.
Wilson visited Miami this past weekend and Brown and Ffrench took their official visits to Miami beginning on June 11. Miami does not have a WR committed in the 2024 class. Wilson is committed to Oregon. Brown and Ffrench have multiple 247Sports crystal balls projecting them to Ohio State.
Ffrench recently stated he considers LSU, Miami and Texas in his top three. Ffench is the lone five-star prospect of the four WRs mentioned. Brown, Mills and Wilson are all four-star prospects. Tom Loy of 247Sports called Mills "one of the most talented offensive playmakers in the class of 2025."
Mills had 79 receptions for 1,640 yards and 18 touchdowns as a junior in 2023, per Andrew Ivins of 247Sports. At 6'1 and 170 pounds, Mills has good length but needs more muscle mass in college. The weekend is the last of summer official visits. Mills could choose to take an official visit to Miami this fall if the parties agree.
