The Miami football team ranks 11th in the ACC by being scheduled to travel 11,517 miles in 2024. Per Grant Hughes of 247Sports the "3,031.3-mile trip to California on Oct. 5, the longest true road game" of the season in the ACC for anyone other than the Bears, SMU, or Stanford.

Georgia Tech, Florida State, Stanford and California will travel the fourth through first most miles among ACC teams in 2024. SMU will travel the sixth most miles in the ACC in 2024. Miami has non-conference road games at Florida and South Florida and in the ACC at Louisville, Georgia Tech and Syracuse in addition to California.

Florida State and Georgia Tech are ahead of Miami in large part because of their week zero game against each other in Dublin, Ireland. The trip from Atlanta to Dublin is 3,921 miles. Georgia Tech will travel 12,962 miles in 2024. Florida State will travel 4,082 out of 13,028 total miles to Dublin.

Stanford will travel 14,018 miles in 2024 and California has 20,660 miles of travel scheduled this season. Stanford plays at Syracuse, Clemson and Notre Dame crossing three time zones. California has ACC road games at Florida State, Pittsburgh, SMU and Wake Forest and a non-conference game at Auburn.

Miami set an NCAA record in 1979 by traveling over 28,000 miles. Miami played games in the Japan Bowl and at San Diego State, Penn State and Syracuse. The Hurricanes finished 1-3 in those games. Miami was 1-5 away from home in 1979 with losses at Alabama, Florida A&M and Alabama in addition to the games above.

None of the original 14 ACC football programs will have to play games at California or Stanford in consecutive seasons. Miami will play at SMU in 2025 and Stanford in 2026. The Hurricanes have more traditional ACC road games in 2027 at Duke, Florida State, NC State and Virginia Tech in 2027. That would change with conference realignment.
