Miami football trending for 4-star CB Ben Hanks in his top 10

The Miami football program is trending for four-star cornerback Ben Hanks after the Florida legacy dropped his top 10 on Tuesday night.

The Miami football program is favored to gain a commitment from Florida legacy Ben Hanks Jr. after he dropped his top 10 on Tuesday night. In addition to Miami, Hanks has Central Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida State, Georgia, Nebraska, Syracuse, USC and a school to be named in his Top 10.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine projects Miami with a 63.0 percent chance for a commitment from Hanks. Gaining a commitment from the Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington star would help set a foundation for the 2023 class. Hanks' father Ben was a defensive back and linebacker at Florida from 1992 through 1994.

Hanks is the 139th prospect, 19th CB and 21st player in Florida in the 2025 class. CB is a position of need for Miami in 2025 class. Mario Cristobal and his staff have built the Miami roster from the inside out. Offensive line was the priority in the 2023 class and defensive line was the 2024 priority.

Hanks has 73 tackles, two tackles for loss, eight interceptions, 11 pass breakups, four fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and two blocked field goals in his first three high school seasons. At 6'1 and 160 pounds, Hanks has the length most programs want but will have to add bulk in college.

On3 lists that Hanks has taken four visits to Miami and one to USC. Beyond Miami, On3 projects USC with a 14.8 percent chance for a Hanks commitment.Everyone is projected with less than a two percent chance for a commitment from Hanks. Miami will have to continue building a relationship after hiring Chevis Jackson as the new defensive backs coach.

Andrew Ivins, the 247Sports Director of Scouting stated Hanks needs to fill out, would thrive best in a system that plays man to man and projects as a multi-year starter. Miami loses starting CB Darryl Porter Jr. after the 2024 season. Hanks could have an opportunity to compete to be a starter as a 2025 true freshman.
