Miami football trending for MSU DT Simeon Barrow
Florida State 247Sports writers Zach Blostein and Brendan Sonnone have logged crystal balls projecting Michigan State defensive tackle Simeon Barrow to commit to the Miami football program. Barrow visited Miami earlier this week. Barrow is the 673rd ranked transfer and 67th defensive lineman in the 2024 portal.
Expect Barrow to compete with C.J. Clark and Marley Cook on the rebuilt interior of the Miami defensive line. Clark transferred from North Carolina State and Cook from Middle Tennessee State for the 2024 season. Barrow was a three-year starter for Michigan State, with 10 starts in each season.
Barrow has 110 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, one pass breakup, one fumble recovery and two forced fumbles during his collegiate career. The best season for Barrow was in 2022 with 40 tackles, 9.0 TFLs, 4.0 sacks and one forced fumble. Barrow redshirted as a freshman at Michigan State in 2020.
Michigan State signed Barrow as the 780th prospect, 35th strongside DE and 76th player in Georgia out of Grovetown in the 2020 class. The redshirt season was beneficial for Barrow. After sitting out in 2020 Barrow became an immediate contributor as a redshirt freshman in 2021 with 34 tackles, 4.0 TFLs, 3.0 sacks, 1.0 PBU and a forced fumble.
Miami reportedly has the edge over LSU and Missouri to add Barrow. Barrow, Clark and Cook provide Miami with an experienced trio at DT. The Hurricanes return Anthony Campbell, Joshua Horton and Ahmad Moten at DT in 2024. Miami also signed five-star DL Armondo Blount and Justin Scott, plus four-star DT Artavius Jones.
Rueben Bain and Akheem Mesidor can move inside from edge rusher on passing downs. Miami is building an elite DL for the 2024 season. Edge rusher Elijah Alston also transferred to Miami from Marshall during the offseason. Miami signed the best DL line in the 2024 class. That is across the board.
