Miami football updates on defensive recruiting visits in the last week
The Miami football program hosted several players over the last week, with at least six on defense per consensus reports. Four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez is the only defensive player committed to Miami in the 2025 class. Miami hosted four defensive linemen and two linebackers in the 2025 class over the last week.
Defensive linemen Kole Briehler, Floyd Boucard and Wilnerson Telemaque, edge rusher Hayden Lowe and linebackers Ty Jackson visited Miami within the last week. All but Lowe were reported to visit Miami over the last week per On3. Lowe visited Miami per 247Sports.
In addition to Melendez, Miami has commitments in the 2025 class from Quarterback Luke Nickel and wide receiver Waden Charles, offensive lineman Lamar Williams and running back Girard Pringle Jr. who committed to the Hurricanes after visiting on Saturday. The 2025 Miami class is currently ranked 20th nationally.
The 2025 Miami class is currently ranks 20th nationally by 247 Sports. Melendez is the 132nd ranked prospect, 16th LB and 18th player in Florida in the 2025 class. The secondary is the biggest Miami position of need in the 2025 class. Miami signed the top 2024 defensive line class.
Last week was the first visit by Briehler to Coral Gables after Miami offered him a scholarship last month. Oklahoma is the only program to receive multiple visits from Briehler per his On3 profile. Briehler is the 504th prospect, 51st DL and 15th player in New Jersey out of the Hun School in Princeton.
Jackson is a tackling machine with 378 stops in three high school seasons. Last Wednesday was the first visit Jackson took to Coral Gables. Over the weekend Jackson took his second visit to Alabama. The Crimson Tide is projected with a 31.3 percent chance for a commitment from Jackson with Miami second at 14.4 percent.
Boucard took visited Miami for the third time last week. All three have been since February and two have occurred in March. Per his On3 profile, Louisville will host the first official visit with Boucard, the weekend of May 31, followed by Michigan State, June 7 and Oklahoma, June 21.
The recruitment of Boucard is a tight four-program race with Oklahoma as the favorite with a 27.5 percent chance for a commitment per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Louisville second at 24.1 percent, Michigan State third at 20.6 percent and Miami fourth at 17.2. Everyone else has less than a one percent chance for Boucard.
Telemaque visited Miami on Thursday as did Boucard and Gonzalez. The 247Sports composite rankings have Telemaque as the 633rd prospect, 61st DL and 93rd recruit in Florida out of Opa Locka, Monsignor Pace. Last week was the fourth visit Telemaque took with the Hurricanes. Miami is lagging behind several programs in Telemaque's recruitment.
According to 247Sports, this weekend was the first visit for Lowe to Miami. Lowe has an official visit scheduled for Texas the weekend of June 14. Miami could be in transition with several DL eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft. Texas and hometown USC, with Lowe out of Los Angeles, are the only programs Lowe has visited multiple times.
Four-star tight end Chase Loftin is the next scheduled visitor to Miami the weekend of April 9. The busy period for Miami and throughout college football begins the weekend of May 31 with official visits that will occur throughout June. Miami will host 21 prospects in June per the On3 Database.
