Miami football will travel seventh most miles nationally in 2024
The Miami football team will travel nearly halfway around the world during the 2024 season when their miles are added together. Per Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports, Miami will travel 12,226 miles, seventh nationally. The 5,736-mile round trip visit to Berkeley to play California is 46.9 percent of the total for the 2024 season.
California, Stanford and SMU will add a significant amount of miles for ACC teams at least every other season. No ACC teams will play on the West Coast in consecutive years. Miami's other 2024 road games are at Florida, South Florida, Georgia Tech and Syracuse. Syracuse is 2,844 miles round trip.
Miami will host Florida A&M, Ball State, Virginia Tech, Florida State and Wake Forest. UCLA, California, Stanford, Washington, USC and Oregon are the six program ahead of Miami. It is not surprising that the six programs that left the Pac-12 will travel the most miles in 2024 and beyond.
UCLA will travel 22,275 miles in 2024. That is 89.4 percent of the way around the world per Dodd. California will travel across the country for games at Auburn, Florida State, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest and SMU. Stanford plays at Syracuse, Clemson, Notre Dame, North Carolina State and Louisville.
Miami will not have to travel as much in 2025. The 2025 road games for Miami are at Florida State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Virginia Tech. Miami will host Florida, Notre Dame and South Florida in non-conference with a fourth game to be announced. The Hurricanes project to have eight home games in 2025.
Miami will host SMU in 2025 and play at Stanford in 2026. California visits Hard Rock Stadium in 2027, Stanford in 2028 and SMU in 2029. Realignment has added thousands of miles to most College Football programs beginning during the 2024 season. That begins for Miami the weekend of October 5 at California.
