Miami football WR depth chart top 6 should be set
The top six wide receivers for the Miami football team appear set heading into the summer. Houston transfer Sam Brown and Jacolby George are the projected outside WRs and Xavier Restrepo returns as the starting slot WR. Isaiah Horton and true freshman JoJo Trader project as the backups to Brown and George.
Sophomore Nathaniel Joseph should have a big jump in production in 2024 as the primary backup to Restrepo and a potential kick and punt returner. Miami has a nice mix of experience and underclassmen at WR. Ny Carr, Chance Robinson and Trader form an elite group of freshmen WRs for Miami.
Restrepo led all returning WRs in the ACC in 2023 with 85 receptions and 1,092 yards in 2023. George had a breakout season in 2023 with 57 receptions for 864 yards and eight TDs. George was one of the most explosive receivers in the ACC during the 2023 season.
Horton should see a significant increase in production in 2024 after recording 13 receptions for 168 yards and one TD in 2023. At 6'4 and 205 pounds, Horton is the biggest WR on the 2024 Miami roster and adds speed on the outside. Brown, George and Horton provide Miami with a good rotation at outside WR.
Joseph had six receptions for 36 yards playing behind Restrepo and Breshard Smith in the slot in 2023. Joseph had two punt returns for 30 yards and nine kickoff returns for 185 behind Smith as the primary returner for Miami in 2023. Entering the 2024 season, Joseph should be the primary returner for Miami.
Trader was the 42nd ranked prospect, ninth WR and ninth signee in Florida in the 2024 class. Trader just missed being a five-star signee and was the highest rated offensive player in the 2024 Miami class. The potential is there for Trader to be the best Miami freshman WR since Ahmmon Richards in 2016.
Miami has a solid top six at WR with Carr, Robinson and sophomore Robby Washington projected as the next three in the 2024 Miami rotation. Led by Cam Ward at QB and the talented WR corps, Miami should have a vaunted passing game in 2023. George and Restrepo should challenge for first-team All-ACC.
