Three-star prospect Ezekiel Marcelin became the second 2025 linebacker to commit to the Miami football program with his pledge on Sunday. Four-star LB Elijah Melendez has been committed to Miami since December. Marcelin chose Miami after taking the final of his five official visits to Stanford this weekend.

Marcelin previously took official visits to Miami (May 31), Pittsburgh (June 7) and Louisville (June 14) before his trip to Stanford this weekend. Penn State received unofficial visits from Marcellin in April and May. Marcelin took five unofficial visits to Miami over the last two plus years before his official visit.

Marcelin is the 450th prospect, 47th LB and 61st player in Florida in the 2025 class out of Miami Central. Two Miami Central prospects are committed to Miami in the 2025 class with the pledge from Marcelin. Four-star safety Amari Wallace committed to Miami on Thursday.

Marcelin has excelled in the last two seasons at Miami Central. Marcelin had 188 tackles, 34 tackles for loss, 19 sacks, two pass breakups, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in the past two seasons for the Rockets. Miami is beginning to build a pipeline with Miami Central.

Defensive linemen Armondo Blount and Rueben Bain and linebacker Wesley Bissinthe are on the 2024 Hurricanes' roster from Miami Central. Linebackers coach Derek Nicholson was the primary recruiter for Marcelin with his co-defensive coordinator Lance Guidry as the second contact per On3.

Marcelin is not the biggest LB at 6'0 and 190 pounds. That could be why he is a three-star prospect. Andrew Ivins, the 247Sports Director of Scouting stated Marcelin "likes to thump people" and he might not be a three-down LB in college. Miami gets a productive player who should develop beyond his recruiting ranking.

Miami will lose Francisco Mauigoa at LB after the 2024 season. Bissainthe and seldom-used redshirt junior LB Chase Smith are eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft. Miami signed four-star LBs Adarius Hayes and Cameron Pruitt in the 2024 class and added Jaylin Alderman as a transfer from Louisville at the position through the portal.
