Miami gets 2nd OL commit from 3-star OT Demetrius Campbell

The Miami football program added its second offensive line commit in the 2025 class with a pledge from three-star tackle Demetrius Campbell on Tuesday.

Three-star offensive tackle Demetrius Campbell became the second lineman to commit to the Miami football program in the 2025 class. Campbell is the eighth player committed to the 2025 Miami class. Campbell chose Miami after official visits with the Hurricanes, Central Florida and Rutgers.

Campbell is the seventh-ranked out of the eight 2025 Miami commits. Three-star interior OL Takaylen Muex is the only 2025 Miami commit ranked below Campbell. Campbell was a late bloomer who did not start playing football until 2022. Campbell is the 1,075th prospect, 81st OT and 142nd player in Florida in the 2025 class.

Miami has two commitments from the June 7 weekend of official visits. Three-star cornerback Timothy Merritt committed to Miami on June 9. Miami is projected to receive a commitment from three-star OT Jaden Wilkerson when he makes his commitment announcement on Wednesday.

John Garcia of Rivals called Campbell a mauler at a legitimate 6'6 300 pounds. Garcia likes the leverage and power that Campbell has at the point of contact. Campbell has the frame of a tackle, but more of an interior game presently per Garcia. Campbell could start his career as an IOL and eventually set at tackle.

Joining a program with a head coach who was part of two national championship OLs and the highly thought of Alex Mirabal as his position coach, Campbell has a high upside in his career. Campbell is the fourth 2025 Miami commit from Florida. Linebacker Elijah Melendez, running back Girard Pringle Jr., Merritt and Muex are also from Florida.

The recruitment for Campbell was consistent. Brian Dohn of 247Sports stated Miami emerged as the favorite to receive a commitment from Campbell from the moment they offered the Orlando Christian Prep prospect. Miami could face a transitional period in the next two seasons.

Guard Anez Cooper and left tackle Jalen Rivers will be eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft. Francis Mauigoa will be expected to enter the 2026 NFL Draft as a potential first-round pick. Depending on how the next two seasons Samson Okunlola also has the option of entering the 2026 NFL Draft.
