Miami has second biggest top 25 rise in week 2 AP Top 25 College Football Poll
Miami moved up seven spots to 12th in the Associated Press Top 25 and four in the USA Today Coaches Poll to 15th after their 41-17 season-opening win at Florida. Miami is the highest-ranked ACC team in both polls following Florida State starting 0-2 and Clemson's blowout loss to Georgia.
With 893 points in the AP Top 25, Miami is only four points behind Utah who is 11th. Miami moved up four spots to 15th in the USA Today Coaches poll. Miami received 650 points in the Coaches Poll. USC vaulted nine spots in the Coaches Poll, passed Miami to 14th with 655 points.
Louisville, Georgia Tech, North Carolina State and Clemson are ranked 22nd through 25th as the other ACC teams in the AP Top 25. Clemson, NC State and Louisville are 22nd through 24th in the Coaches Poll. Florida State who began the season ranked 10th in both polls fell completely out of the rankings after their 0-2 start.
Their ranking of 12th in the AP Top 25 is the highest Miami has been since they were ranked ninth in week 14 in 2020 that was on December 6, That was during the Covid pandemic season. This week is the highest Miami has been ranked during a full season since they were ranked 11th entering the 2017 ACC Championship Game.
Boston College is 27th, SMU 32nd and North Carolina 39th among ACC teams listed under other receiving votes. In the Coaches Poll, Georgia Tech is 26th, SMU 31st, Boston College 40th, North Carolina 45th and Syracuse 48th among ACC teams listed under others receiving votes.
Miami plays Georgia Tech and Louisville this season but does not play any of the other ACC teams mentioned in the rankings. Miami will play its home opener on Saturday versus Florida A&M as part of a two-game homestand. Ball State comes to Hard Rock Stadium on September 14.
