Miami holds on in post week 6 12-team College Football Playoff rankings prediction
Miami survived at California in a game that would have likely knocked them out of College Football Playoff projections with a loss. Five teams in front of Miami suffered losses on Saturday. Miami rallied from a 35-10 deficit at California to win 39-38. The post week six playoff projections are the biggest shakeup this season.
Alabama, Tennessee, Missouri, Michigan and USC all suffered losses on Saturday. For teams outside of the Big 10 and SEC, those losses could present big opportunities for the remainder of the season. Alabama, Tennessee and Missouri were all consensus projected playoff teams following week five.
Michigan and USC were on the fringe of playoff projections with some predictions of having them in the tournament. Another impactful loss was UNLV to Syracuse. UNLV was the projected Group of Five Playoff representative at 4-0 entering week six. The Rebels could still be in the mix with wins over Kansas and Houston.
Boise State whose only loss was 37-34 at Oregon takes UNLV's place as the Group of Five representative in the CFP. UNLV hosts Boise State on October 25 in a critical game in the Mountain West race. Boise State beat UNLV in the 2023 Mountain West Championship Game.

The top four conference champions receive byes. Miami is holding on to the projected third seed ahead of Iowa State, which would represent the Big XII. All of the at-large teams continue to be projected from the Big 10 or SEC, but that should change as those teams continue to beat each other.
Clemson and potentially SMU are teams to watch from the ACC. Clemson, Miami and SMU do not play each other this season. Those three are best positioned to earn a spot in the ACC Championship game. The loser could be out with two losses, while the team that doesn't make the ACC Championship game could get a CFP berth with one loss.
