Per Jonathan Givony of ESPN in an X post on Friday "Miami wing Kyshawn George has received a green room invite to attend the NBA Draft with his family, a source told ESPN. George has risen quickly on NBA Draft boards after one season with the Miami Hurricanes basketball program.

George is one of 20 NBA Draft prospects who have been invited to the green room. Per ESPN "The green room is a staging area in front of the NBA draft podium where players, families and agents await commissioner Adam Silver to call a player's name upon selection."

George grew about five inches to 6'8 between Miami signing him out of Switzerland in the spring of 2023. George averaged 7.6 points per game, 3.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 42.6 percent from the floor, 40.8 percent on three-point attempts and 77.8 percent on free throws.

George is currently 19th overall on the ESPN NBA Draft board and the fifth-ranked shooting guard. Hoops Hype likes the guard skills George brings at 6'8. George's weaknesses stated by Hoops Hype are a lack of quickness and that he needs to improve his "ball control and decision-making."

George improved significantly as a freshman from his ranking where he signed with Miami. The 247Sports composite rankings had George as the 259th prospect and 35th shooting guard in the 2025 class. George played in 30 games with 16 starts in his sole season with Miami.

George scored in double-figures 12 times during the 2023-24 season and became the first Miami freshman to score 20-plus points since Isaiah Wong in 2020. Miami has not had a player selected in the first round of the NBA Draft since Lonnie Walker IV went 18th to San Antonio in 2018.

Only five Miami players have ever been selected in the first round of the NBA Draft. Before Walker IV, Shane Larkin was chosen 18th overall by the Atlanta Hawks in 2013, John Salmons 26th to San Antonio in 2003, Tim James 25th to the Heat in 1999 and Rick Barry fourth overall to the San Francisco Warriors in 1965.

Although Miami missed the NCAA Tournament after consecutive deep runs in 2022 and 2023, George being selected in the first round of the NBA Draft will be a good selling point for Jim Larranaga and his staff. Freshman Jailil Bethea is projected to be a lottery pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
