The Miami Hurricanes basketball team set a single-game low in a 60-38 loss at Virginia on Monday night. Miami previously scored 40 in a loss at Virginia in 2014. Miami is off until Saturday when they host North Carolina. Pro Football Focus named Xavier Restrepo among the top 100 2023 players nationally.
The numbers for Miami were abysmal versus Virginia. Miami shot season lows of 28.6 percent from the floor and 2-20 on three-point attempts. Norchad Omier led Miami with 11 points on 5-11 from the floor with 13 rebounds. The remaining Miami players combined shot 11 for 38.
Restrepo is the 88th-ranked player in the Pro Football Focus rankings. PFF wrote, "Restrepo dominated from the slot in 2023, and his 89.0 receiving grade was a top-15 mark among all receivers in the nation. Fifty-three of 'his receptions went for a first down or a touchdown, tied for seventh among Power Five receivers.
David Lake of Inside the U wrote, "Miami signed the most top 25 prospects from the state of Florida in the 2024 recruiting class." Miami also signed four of the top 10 players in Florida in the 2024 class, not including signees from IMG Academy per On3.
Miami center Matt Lee had a flawless performance at the East-West Shrine Game last week, with no quarterback pressures allowed in 22 pass block snaps. Lee anchored the 2023 Miami offensive line and set the foundation for his successor in 2024, Indiana transfer Zach Carpenter.
The Miami football team barely made the CBS Sports "2024 NFL Draft Top 50 Big Board." Miami safety Kamren Kinchens is the 50th-ranked player on the CBS Big Board. Kinchens has fallen out of the first round, where he was projected for most of the 2023 season. The NFL Combine will be critical for Kinchens.
