Miami kicker Andres Borregales named preseason All-American by Athlon
Miami kicker Andres Borregales has been named second-team preseason All-American from Athlon Sports. Graham Nicholson who transferred to Alabama from Miami (Ohio) during the offseason is the first-team preseason All-American kicker chosen by Athlon.
Borregales tied for 23rd nationally in scoring in 2023 averaging 8.5 points per game for 110 points. Nicholson tied for 26th in 2023 averaging 8.3 PPG, finishing with a total of 116 points. Borregales was 24th nationally making 84.6 percent of his field goal attempts.
Borregales made 22 of his 26 field goal attempts in 2023. Nicholson finished third nationally making 96.4 percent of his field goal attempts. Nicholson made 27 out of his 28 field goal attempts. Miami held Nicholson to one field goal attempt which he made in a 38-3 loss to the Hurricanes in the 2023 season opener.
Borregales made all five of his field goal attempts inside of the 30 yards in 2023, was nine of 10 from 30-39 yards, four of five from 40-49 yards and four out of six from 50 yards or more. Ironically, the most productive game for Borregales in 2023 was versus Miami (Ohio). Borregales made all three of his FG attempts and all three extra points.

Borregales enters the 2024 season 21 field goals and 114 points away from Michael Badgley's Miami career records. With Miami expected to have an explosive offense in 2024, Borregales should be able to reach Badgley's record-setting totals by the end of the season. Badgley played for Miami from 2014 through 2017.

In 2023, Borregales was named First-team All-ACC and a Lou Groza Award Semifinalist. Borregales earned Honorable Mention All-ACC in 2021 and 2022. Expect Borregales to be first-team preseason All-ACC in 2024. It has been rare for Miami players to earn first-team All-ACC in consecutive seasons. That is well within reach for Borregales.
