Miami moves up four spots in ESPN Football Power Index

Following its 62-0 domination of Ball State on Saturday, Miami moved up four spots in the ESPN Football Power Index.

Miami moved up four spots to eighth in the ESPN Football Power Index after thoroughly dominating Ball State in a 62-0 win on Saturday. The Hurricanes moved down one spot last week after a 56-9 win over FCS Florida A&M. Miami continues to be dominant offensively and defensively.

Miami 750 yards and allowed 115 in the win over Ball State. The Hurricanes are fifth nationally averaging 53.0 points per game and 13th allowing 8.7. Miami is third nationally averaging 609.3 total yards per game and sixth allowing 188.7. The Hurricanes have been completely dominant in 2024.

Miami is now the overwhelming favorite to win the ACC with a 34.7 percent chance to be conference champions per the FPI. Clemson is second at 21.8 percent, Louisville at 18.1 percent and surprising Boston College at 11.0 percent. Everyone else has a 3.2 percent chance or less to win the ACC.

The FPI projects Miami with a final record of 10.5 wins and 2.0 losses. Miami is projected with a 10.5 percent chance to win out, a 52.6 percent chance to earn a College Football Playoff berth, an 8.8 percent chance to advance to the National Championship Game and a 3.3 percent chance to win the title.

By nearly every metric Miami is one of the best teams in the country. Miami has the 21st-best strength of record in the FPI resume, third in-game control and seventh in win probability. Simply stated the metrics believe Miami can compete with anyone nationally in 2024.

Miami is favored in every game for the rest of the 2024 season. That flipped from last week when Miami was favored to win every game except at Louisville on October 19. Miami now has an expected chance of 55.3 percent to beat Louisville. The Hurricanes and Cardinals will be one of the marque 2024 ACC Games.
