Miami moves up slightly in both week 4 national polls

Miami moved up two spots in the week four Associated Press Top 25 and one place in the USA Today Coaches poll following their 62-0 win over Ball State on Saturday.

Miami moved up two spots to eighth in the Associated Press Top 25 and one place to 11th in the USA Today coaches poll following their 62-0 win over Ball State on Saturday. Miami is the highest-ranked team outside of the Big 10 or SEC. Miami passed Oregon and Penn State in the AP Top 25 and USC in the coaches poll.

Miami slightly passed Oregon State with 1,094 points in the AP Top 25. Oregon had 1,093 points in the week four poll. Miami had 1,073 points in the week three AP Top 25. Texas and Georgia switched places a top the AP Top 25. The Longhorns are now the number-one ranked team in the AP Top 25.

Miami received 831 points in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Utah is three points ahead of Miami with 834 points in the week four coaches poll. Miami will have an opportunity to finish in the top three or four nationally if they keep winning while the Big 10 and SEC teams beat each other.

Clemson and Louisville are the only other ranked ACC teams. Louisville is 19th and Clemson is 21st in the AP Top 25. Clemson is 19th and Louisville 20th in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Miami does not play Clemson this season. Louisville hosts Miami on October 19 in what could be the most important game in the ACC in 2024.

Five ACC teams were under others receiving votes in the AP Top 25 and six are mentioned in the USA Today Coaches poll. Syracuse and California are the only teams on the 2024 Miami schedule who are among the others receiving votes. Miami is favored in all of its remaining games per the ESPN Football Power Index.

Miami travels to 2-1 South Florida on Saturday. South Florida moved up 15 spots to 63 in the FPI. South Florida has wins over Bethune-Cookman and Southern Mississippi with a week two loss at Alabama. The Bulls will be the best team Miami plays this season during its non-conference schedule.
