Miami offensive line named top 10 nationally by former NFL tackle
The Miami offensive line was ranked 10th nationally by 247Sports in an article posted by Blake Brockermeyer is 247Sports on Friday. Brockermeyer spent nine years in the NFL as an offensive tackle. Miami returns three starters and added center Zach Carpenter from Indiana to its 2024 OL.
Miami returns starting right guard Anez Cooper and tackles Francis Mauigoa and Jalen Rivers in 2024. Left guard is the only sole position open for Miami entering the summer portion of the offseason. Redshirt freshman Samson Okunlola and redshirt sophomore Matt McCoy appear to be the leaders to start at LG.
Miami has multiple options for the final 2024 OL starter. Brockermeyer speculated that the best fit for Miami will be between Mauigoa and Okunlola. Brockermeyer concluded that Mauigoa should remain at RT and Okunlola should move inside from his more natural position at tackle.
Massive 6-8 and 340-pound OT Markel Bell was projected to be the swing tackle for Miami by Brockermeyer. McCoy is not among the OL mentioned by Brockermeyer. Redshirt sophomore Ryan Rodriguez projects as the backup and heir apparent to Carpenter at center.
"The Hurricanes come out of spring ball with a physical and talented offensive line that looks like it's still tinkering with finding its best starting five combination through fall camp...About the coach: Alex Mirabal is one of the better offensive line coaches in the country and is known as an excellent technical coach with a proven track record as a developer."

Expect the three returning starters, Carpenter, McCoy, Okunlola and Rodriguez to be the top OL for Miami in 2024. Rodriguez does not project to receive a lot of snaps if Carpenter stays healthy. Miami came out of spring practice healthy. The competition for the fifth OL starter will continue into August training camp.
Mario Cristobal and Mirabal have made over the Miami OL into a more physical one entering the 2024 season. Miami should continue to have one of the best OLs nationally in 2024. The four projected starters provide Miami with one of the most experienced OLs in college football in 2024.
