Pro Football Focus is significantly higher on Miami entering the 2024 season than the Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today Coaches Poll. Miami is 19th in the AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches Poll. Pro Football Focus has Miami 12th in their "College Football Rankings: Preseason top 25."

The high ranking for Miami by Pro Football Focus continues the trend since the AP Top 25 was released on Monday. Multiple national college football analysts have projected Miami as being undervalued in the AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches Poll. Most pundits point to the transfer Miami brought in through the portal.

The Miami transfers are led by former Washington State quarterback Cam Ward and running back Damien Martinez who transferred from Oregon State. Miami also added key transfers at edge rusher, safety and wide recevier. Miami should have a more explosive offense in 2024 and one of the best group of pass rushers nationally.

Mario Cristobal should finally have the roster to compete for an ACC Championship and College Football Playoff berth in 2024. A favorable schedule has also been mentioned for why Miami should be an ACC Championship and College Football Playoff contender. PFF summarized the 2024 outlook for Miami.

"12. MIAMI (FL) HURRICANES (2023 RECORD: 7-6, LOST PINSTRIPE BOWL)
Bottom Line: Thanks to an excellent offseason in the transfer portal, Miami now has the most talented roster in the ACC. The Hurricanes should be seen as a favorite to win their first ACC title in program history and secure a College Football Playoff berth."

Max Chadwick and Dalton Wasserman, PFF

Miami only has to leave the state of Florida four times this season. Non-conference games at Florida and South Florida and the ACC road opener and California should be difficult challenges. Traveling all the way across the country in the middle of the season is an unprecedented challenge for Miami.

The Hurricanes have a bye week after playing at California. Playing at Louisville on October 19 will also be a difficult road game for Miami. Home games versus Virginia Tech and Florida State should have major impact in the race for a berth in the ACC Championship Game.

Chadwick and Wasserman are being bold stating Miami "should be seen as a favorite to win their first ACC title in program history and secure a College Football Playoff berth." Miami was picked third in the ACC Media Poll behind Florida State and Clemson. Miami does not play Clemson this season.
