Miami trailing with 4-star CB Ben Hanks commitment announcement coming soon

The Miami football team was named one of three finalists for four-star cornerback Ben Hanks with a commitment announcement expected in the next week.

The Miami football team has ground to make up for four-star cornerback Ben Hanks Jr. with a commitment announcement expected by the end of next week. Chad Simmons of On3 reported a decision is expected soon. Florida is the prohibitive favorite per multiple recruiting sites.

Both 247Sports crystal balls logged for Hanks are in favor of Florida. That includes one from Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine projects Florida with a 94.2 percent chance for a commitment from Hanks. Hanks is a Florida legacy. Hanks' father Ben played at Florida from 1992-94.

Louisville, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Miami hosted Hanks for official visits in June. Miami has hosted Hanks seven times overall, which is the most often. Florida has hosted Hanks three times and Georgia twice. Hanks has visited every other program only once each.

Per Simmons, Florida, Louisville and Miami are the finalists for Hanks. Miami cornerbacks coach Chevis Jackson is the primary Miami recruiter for Hanks with defensive coordinator Lance Guidry listed as the secondary recruiter. Hanks would be able to stay home if he chose the Hurricanes as a Miami Central prospect.

Miami currently has commitments from four-star CBs Jaboree Antoine and Chris Ewald in the 2025 class. Linebacker Ezekeil Marcelin and safety Amari Wallace are Hurricanes' commits in the 2025 class from Miami Central. Miami defensive linemen Rueben Bain and Armondo Blount and LB Wesley Bissainthe are Miami Central alums.

The 2025 Miami class is currently 10th in the 247Sports composite rankings. Miami has clearly made the secondary a priority for 2025. Miami will lose starting defensive backs Darryl Porter Jr. and Mishael Powell following the 2025 season. Several other Miami DBs will be eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft. As always, expect DBs to enter the transfer portal. Hanks would be a huge commitment for Miami in the 2025 class.
