Cornerback is a position of need for Miami in the 2025 class. Mike Lilly of Mike Farrell Sports projects the Miami football program to gain a commitment from four-star Florida legacy CB Ben Hanks. Miami has received six unofficial visits from Hanks per his On3 recruiting profile.

Louisville and USC are the only other programs to receive visits from Hanks. Hanks has official visits scheduled to Florida the weekend of June 7, Georgia June 14 and Miami June 21. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine projects Miami with a 51.2 percent chance for a commitment from Hanks.

Florida is second with a 14.3 percent chance for a commitment from Hanks, followed by Georgia at 14.7 percent. Every other program has less than a five percent chance for a commitment from Hanks per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Hanks is the 154th prospect, 20th CB and 23rd player in Florida in 2025 per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Hanks would provide Miami with much-needed length at CB. Playing for legendary Miami Booker T. Washington High School, Hanks gained significant experience by contributing since he was a freshman. The 247Sports scouting report projects Hanks as a multi-year starter.

"Ben Hanks Jr.
Miami, FL (Booker T. Washington)
#154 NAT, #20 CB, #23 FL
Confidence is something that every corner has to have, and Hanks certainly doesn't lack it. The 6'1, 170-pound defensive back currently holds 24 offers, including offers from Miami, Georgia, and Florida.

Coming off an impressive 2023 junior season at Booker T. Washington with 6 interceptions (3 returned for touchdowns), Hanks has a slew of visits scheduled to a variety of ACC and SEC schools. The leader in this one isn't clear, but look out for coach Mario Cristobal and the Canes to have a great shot at landing anyone that's in their own backyard.

Early Prediction: Miami"

Darryl Porter Jr. is the only 2024 senior CB on the Miami roster. Miami is seven players over the roster limit for 2024. With the transfer portal open next month, Miami could lose more CBs. Every Miami CB on the 2024 spring roster has eligibility through at least 2025. Mario Cristobal has shown a willingness to play freshmen.

Damari Brown was a key part of the Miami CB rotation as a true freshman in 2023. Hanks would have an opportunity to earn significant snaps as a freshman. As the Miami roster is currently constructed, Hanks would be one of the most talented CBs on the Miami roster.
