Fox Sports lead College Football Analyst Joel Klatt called Cam Ward the prize of the transfer quarterback pool. Klatt stated that the combination of Ward and a manageable schedule makes it far more likely Miami will be in the preseason top 10. Miami does not play Clemson in 2024.

Pate said the Miami football staff believe they got THE guy in the transfer portal. He continued and pushes back against Ward's commitment to Miami because of money during the NIL era. Pate stated that UCF added K.J. Jefferson partly because of money and so does every program adding a transfer QB.

Ward is the type of QB who could get hot and lead Miami on a late-season run to compete for a College Football Playoff berth, according to Pate. Pate also acknowledged how polarizing the Miami football program is. Ward is ranked in the top three transfer QBs, depending on the website.

Klatt also discussed the decision by Ward to forego the NFL Draft. Miami hasn't finished in the top 10 in 20 years, but Klatt said maybe this is the year. Miami is currently 18th at plus 6000 to win the National Championship next season by FanDuel.

Pate stated that Miami hit a home run with the addition of Ward. There is a double standard with Ward committed to Miami per Pate. Pate felt that if Lane Kiffin at Mississippi or Kirby Smart and Georgia added Ward, the standards and reaction would be different. Mario Cristobal and Miami now have to prove themselves on the field with Ward.

Miami faces a critical 2024 season. After starting 12-13 during his Miami tenure, Cristobal needs to lead the Hurricanes to at least contend fot a College Football Playoff spot in 2024. Anything less will not be accepted by the Miami fanbase. Miami will have one of the most talented rosters in College Football in 2024.
