National CFB writer names Cam Ward one of 5 intriguing spring transfers to watch
Miami quarterback Cameron Ward is one of the most talked about transfers during the 2024 offseason. Rivals National Recruiting Analyst Adam Friedman named Ward one of "Five Intriguing Transfers To Watch This Spring." Ward is the foundational player on the 2024 Miami roster.
Ward is the leading returning passer in college football after averaging 311.1 yards per game in 2023. The ability for Ward to improvise and get out of the pocket is one of the reasons he is one of the Five Intriguing Transfers to Watch This Spring. Ward led an explosive Washington State passing offense in the last two seasons.
Ward was ninth nationally in 2024 with 144 completions of 10 or more yards and 11th with 52 of 20 or more yards. Miami should be more explosive offensively with Ward at QB. The Hurricanes were 35th nationally with 129 completions of 10 yards or more and 39th with 48 completions of 20 yards or more in 2023.
Ward needs to be more consistent in 2024. In 2023, Ward had two sub-200 passing-yard games in losses to Arizona and UCLA. Conversely, Ward had 400-yard games versus California, Colorado State and Oregon. Ward also led the country with seven lost fumbles. Ward threw only seven interceptions.

Miami is the third favorite to win the 2024 ACC Championship. Clemson is the favorite at plus 240, Florida State is second at plus 290 and Miami is at 450. Miami has a favorable schedule for earning a berth in the 2024 ACC Title Game. Miami doesn't play Clemson and Florida State travels to Hard Rock Stadium.

The return of leading receivers Jacolby George and Xavier Restrepo and the top two rushers, Mark Fletcher and Henry Parrish, provide Ward with an excellent foundation of playmakers entering the 2024 season. Expect Miami to be improved offensively with Ward and the return of the top Miami playmakers.
