During a round table on the "Late Signing Period Roundtable: Putting a wrap on 2024 class" Rivals National Recruiting analyst Greg Smith named the Miami football program when asked, "Which team's 2024 class will go down as the biggest surprise?"Miami signed the fifth-ranked 2024 class in the Rivals rankings.

Miami should have a big boost this fall when the 247Sports College Football Team Talent Composite rankings are released. Miami has consistently been in the top 15 in the Team Talent Composite rankings. Miami was 12th in 2023. Mario Cristobal and his staff have signed consecutive top-10 classes without on-the-field success.

Miami is one of only five programs in the Rivals rankings with at least three five-star signees. Alabama and Georgia signed four five-star prospects. Ohio State and Texas were the other two programs who signed three five-stars. Florida was the only other program with at least two five-star signees.

Miami signed a potentially dominant group of defensive linemen to pair with ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year Rueben Bain. The Hurricanes return a deep group of DL in 2024. Miami's freshmen DL should have a chance to develop in 2024. Miami also signed an elite group of WRs in the 2024 class.

"Give me Miami here. The Hurricanes went 7-6 last season and have yet to take the leap many fans hope for under coach Mario Cristobal. A little patience may pay off quickly for the Canes based on this year’s haul. It’s not a question to me that Miami signed the best defensive line class in the country. Cristobal landed three five-stars on the defensive line in Marquise Lightfoot, Justin Scott and Armondo Blount. Artivius Jones, Booker Pickett, Elias Rudolph and Cole McCanathy are all four-stars. Daylen Russell is a high upside three-star in the class too."

Ny Carr, Chance Robinson and Joshisa Trader are all four-star WRs who should compete for first-team snaps this fall. Miami signed 15 blue chip players in the 2024 class. Cristobal has shown a willingness to play freshmen to get the best players on the field. Expect that to continue with the 2024 Miami freshmen.

Four-star safety Zaquan Patterson is the player to watch for Miami to push playing time as a freshman in 2024. Patterson has been lauded for having a high football IQ. Cristobal has proven he is an elite recruiter. Miami has to start producing results on the field during the 2024 season.
