The Miami football team finished with the 10th-ranked 2024 transfer class. Miami signed 15 transfers and added 28. The 28 Departures from Miami had a cumulative grade from 247Sports of 88.46. The 15 Miami incoming transfers have a cumulative grade of 88.93. Miami's net transfer grade is + 0.47.
The Net Rating places Miami 13th out of 16 ACC teams who added transfers in 2024. With Clemson not adding any transfers and the 12 outgoing Tigers having a net loss of 87.17, the Tigers would be fourth by a wide margin.
Brandon Marcello of 247Sports summarized the Miami class by saying the Hurricanes "has seemingly been putting together the pieces for a championship run the last three years in the portal." Marcello added Mario Cristobal is betting that the 2024 class will put Miami over the top.
Miami has the second-best incoming transfer portal class in the ACC behind Florida State. The Seminoles also have the highest-ranked incoming transfer portal class. Marcello stated that Miami might have the brightest stars at the skill positions.
Miami added Washington State quarterback Cameron Ward, Oregon State running back Damien Martinez and Houston wide receiver Sam Brown on offense. Defensively, Marcello is high on defensive linemen Marley Cook and Tyler Baron making impacts for Miami this season.
Twenty of the 28 outgoing Miami players transferred to power conference programs. Miami brought in more impact players than they lost, led by Baron, Martinez and Ward. Martinez and Ward are both potentially the best transfers nationally in 2024. Cristobal and his staff have done an excellent job balancing the transfer portal and freshmen.
The 2024 Miami season will largely depend on how successful Martinez and Ward are. Ward's transfer to Miami in January laid the foundation for Brown and Martinez to join the Hurricanes in April. Ward is the biggest reason there is a lot of cautious optimism surrounding Miami entering the 2024 season.
